Did you know that trees can talk to each other? And that some plants have exploding seeds? You may have heard about carnivorous plants, but did you know some plants eat bat droppings? Botany is a lot more exciting than you might think! This course will include a mixture of lessons, labs, and outdoor exploration.

Imagine being able to take gorgeous images of the night sky, startrails, the moon and more! Join Astronomer John Natale in the Talcott Mountain Science Center (TMSC) Planetarium to learn about the basics of astrophotography and how he learned the art of photographing the night sky on his own.
3-DAY PROGRAM: Dec. 27, 28 & 29 | 9AM – 3PM
Get ready for snow days with the The Ultimate Snowball Challenge! What makes the best snowball snow? How can you build an impenetrable snow fort? What’s the best kind of insulation to help you stay warm on a snowy day? We’ll learn the science behind snow just in time for winter fun. Please note: this program will run snow or shine, so please make sure to dress for the weather each day!
3-DAY PROGRAM: Dec. 27, 28 & 29 | 9AM – 3PM
Looking for hands-on learning? We put the “A” (art) in STEAM during this program! Students will do experiments, build models, create contraptions, and make works of art using science – resulting in plenty of cool projects to take home! This year at Talcott Mountain our theme is “sustainability” so there will be an added twist of re-using household materials.

There’s some great science that seems magical, and some awesome tricks that you can make using science. Sharpen your skills and fool your friends! Learn illusions, tricks and much more! Cards, cups and balls, magic wands, disappearing coins and so much more! All materials are included, with plenty of take-home tricks!
