Adventures with Arthropods | Gr. 6-8

August 12 @ 9:00 amAugust 16 @ 4:00 pm

School might be out for summer, but learning never stops at the Talcott Mountain Science Center! During Summer of STEM Adventures, students embark on week-long journeys in the topic(s) of their choosing so they can stay engaged and active all summer long.

In Adventures with Arthropods | Gr. 6-8:

Insects, arachnids, crustaceans… there are arthropods everywhere! Find out how they move, what they do, and where to find them. You will learn collecting techniques, identification, how to use microscopes, and how to keep arthropods alive as pets. A major focus will be on collecting and pinning insects to make your own insect collection to take home.

Classes run from 9:00 am – 4:00pm daily. Small class sizes on our mountaintop campus ensure hands-on instruction and individual attention.
