Talcott Mountain Science Center & Academy is unique, combining two organizations under a single umbrella. For decades, Talcott Mountain Science Center has been at the forefront of out-of-school, informal STEM education, and Talcott Mountain Academy – our K-8 independent day school – is the area’s only private school designed for and devoted to the needs of gifted learners. While STEM is in our DNA, we pride ourselves on being a community not only of exceptional, young scientists and inventors, but also talented musicians and artists, thought-provoking poets and writers, and future leaders who demonstrate kindness, compassion, and integrity. As a whole, TMSCA is defined by a small, relational, and inclusive community; passionate educators who are experts in their fields and prefer to be the “guide on the side” rather than the “sage on the stage”; and an educational approach that values hands-on learning. Whether here for the school year or a week in the summer, students are given the opportunities and support needed to explore, engage, and excel.
