TMSC’s Spring 2026 Homeschool Program Sparks STEM Discovery

This semester, Talcott Mountain Science Center (TMSC) welcomed homeschool students ages 6-13 for another engaging season of STEM exploration through its Spring 2026 Homeschool Program. Running Fridays from March 20 through May 8, the six-week program combined discussion, guided tutorials, and hands-on learning to help students deepen their understanding of science and technology while building confidence and curiosity.

Throughout the spring session, students explored topics across ecology, weather, physics, and 3D printing. Recent lessons included studying weather prediction models, learning how pulley systems function as simple machines, designing DIY bottle rockets, examining biomes around the world, and practicing freehand modeling techniques in Tinkercad.

“We love the flexibility and creativity of the homeschool programs, as we can bring our newest innovative teaching ideas to an audience of excited and enthusiastic students,” says Dr. Brigette Zacharczenko, Life Science Teacher at Talcott Mountain Academy and STEM Programs Manager at TMSC. “It’s so fun getting to know the students who come back session after session!”

TMSC’s homeschool programs are designed to supplement and enrich the homeschool experience through immersive STEM education and meaningful peer collaboration. Classes rotate yearly across four major subject areas: life science, earth science, physical science, and technology, giving returning students the opportunity to continue exploring new topics and skills.

TMSC’s homeschool programs take place during both the fall and spring semesters and are open to homeschool students ages 6-13. Families interested in future sessions can learn more here.
