Talcott Mountain Science Center, Academy & Research Institute Welcomes Dr. Ashley Y. Carpenter to Its Board

Talcott Mountain Science Center, Academy & Research Institute (Talcott) is pleased to announce the appointment of a new member to its Board of Trustees: Dr. Ashley Y. Carpenter. She joined the Board in August 2025 and brings exceptional expertise, leadership, and passion to advance Talcott’s mission as a pioneering STEM institution where education, research, and outreach inspire and empower advanced and curious learners.

Dr. Ashley Y. Carpenter is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Professional Development and Publications at William & Mary’s Center for Gifted Education. She completed her doctoral work in Gifted Education and Talent Development at the University of Connecticut and previously worked at the National Center for Research on Gifted Education as a Research Assistant and Research Site Director. Dr. Carpenter teaches graduate courses in Gifted Education and serves as the Professional Developer for Project BUMP UP, a Jacob Javits Grant–funded research project. She coordinates conferences and provides trainings on Center for Gifted Education curriculum units and general gifted education topics nationwide. She previously taught middle school for 14 years and is the parent of a twice-exceptional child.

As a new appointee to the Talcott Board of Trustees, Dr. Carpenter will strengthen the Board’s capacity to deliver transformative STEM education, research, and community outreach throughout Connecticut and beyond.
