BOTANY for Homeschoolers
November 10, 2023 @ 9:30 am – 1:30 pm
$550
Did you know that trees can talk to each other? And that some plants have exploding seeds? You may have heard about carnivorous plants, but did you know some plants eat bat droppings? Botany is a lot more exciting than you might think! This course will include a mixture of lessons, labs, and outdoor exploration.
In this hands-on program, students (ages 11-15) will learn about plant anatomy, evolution, pollination, classification, and adaptations. Every week they will find plants to add to their pressed plant collection, in which they will learn herbarium techniques to create long lasting specimens to take home.
Book excerpts and a reading list will be provided for optional at-home enrichment.
Class meets in-person from 9:30am – 1:30pm for eight (8) weeks through November 10. New family orientation on Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 4-5pm includes a campus tour.
