Dean, Talcott Mountain Academy

Talcott Mountain Academy (TMA) is seeking a visionary and highly relational Dean of Academy to provide academic and operational leadership for the school beginning July 1, 2026. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Dean will oversee all aspects of student life, faculty leadership, academic programming, and daily school operations. Middle School (5-8) Social Studies/5th Grade ELA Teacher

Talcott Mountain Academy (TMA) is seeking an enthusiastic, driven, and inspirational Middle School (5-8) Social Studies/5th Grade ELA Teacher to provide direct instruction in the fields of social studies (gr. 5-8) and English language arts (gr. 5). Across disciplines, teaching at TMA is defined by immersive, hands-on experiences; differentiated instruction; and rigorous standards. In this role, the successful candidate will leverage best practice —especially in inquiry-based, experiential, project-based, and place-based learning—to ensure all teaching and learning are consistent with the Organization’s mission. In addition to daily instructional responsibilities, key responsibilities include coordinating and overseeing TMA History Day presentations and student participation at regional, state, and national levels, as well as collaborating with fellow instructors to support students’ engagement in the Connecticut Student Writers program. Summer Program Instructors (Weekly; Part-time)

Talcott is seeking energetic, creative and motivated Summer Program Instructors for summer employment in a dynamic, team-based environment. In this role, the primary responsibility is delivering innovative, hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences for K-2, 3-5 or 6-8 grade students at Talcott Mountain Science Center. Programs are one week in length, running from June 22 through August 14, 2026. Summer First Aid Coordinator / Nurse (Weekly; Part-time)

Talcott is seeking a skilled and motivated First Aid Coordinator / Nurse for part-time summer employment in a dynamic, team-based environment. Duties include staffing the health office for our classroom-based summer program that serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Additional responsibilities include administering first-aid, family supplied medications, and attending to health issues that arise during the day. We are hiring for the following weeks: July 20-24, July 27-31, August 3-7, and August 10-14, 2026. TMSC “Science Center Scholars” (Volunteer Position)

For our 2026 summer programs, Talcott is seeking student* volunteers: “Science Center Scholars” who are passionate about science and can assist our teachers in their classes. Join us and grab this opportunity to mentor budding scientists. Tasks may include: assisting students with activities, taking photographs, making copies, setting up/cleaning up, playing games, helping with end of day activities (tie-dye, contests, etc). You may also have the opportunity to teach or give examples depending on the program. This is NOT a paid position. When you have completed your week(s), we will email you a form confirming your volunteer hours. Program assignments will be made based on greatest need, and matching up to your expertise. Talcott is seeking a motivated, organized, and cooperative Summer Program Coordinator who will play a key role in assisting the Summer Program Manager and keeping the program running smoothly. This individual will be a team player – ready to help admin, teachers, and students. This internship is a unique opportunity to gain leadership experience in a science education setting.
