DESCRIPTION:All children are born curious; it’s our job to help them stay that way. Let us help you give your student something much better than a Saturday on the couch scrolling. \nJoin us Saturday Nov 15th from 9 AM to 2 PM on the beautiful campus of Talcott Mountain Academy\, where curious minds ages 7–11 can explore hands-on STEM adventures in aerodynamics\, engineering\, ecosystems\, and stop-motion animation with our expert educators. \nWhile your child dives into discovery\, parents have the option to attend a special seminar with Dr. Kenneth Wright\, Dean of the Academy\, on “Perfectionism in High-Ability Kids” learning how to nurture healthy striving without toxic self-expectations. \nREGISTER TODAY \nSpaces are limited — register today and keep curiosity alive! \n  \n\nBrain Body Bootcamp \nStudents will strengthen focus\, coordination\, and problem-solving through structured movement and cognitive challenges\, exploring how physical activity supports learning and building teamwork. Ages 7-9. Teacher: Sean Conlin \nEngineering with Simple Machines \nStudents will explore levers\, pulleys\, gears\, and inclined planes through hands-on building and challenge activities. They’ll discover how simple machines help us solve some of engineering’s biggest problems. Ages 7-9. Teacher: Mike Moynihan \nStop Animation \nStudents will learn basic animation principles by designing characters\, building with clay\, and creating a short stop-motion film. Ages 7-9. Teacher: Katie Larsen \nEngineering Aerodynamics \nStudents will investigate flight by testing how design affects lift\, drag\, and thrust using paper airplanes\, gliders\, and exploring small rockets. Ages 9-11. Teacher: Hannah Marye \nNature Journaling \nStudents will practice scientific observation and documentation\, recording data on local plants and animals through guided journaling and the combination of science and art. Join us on Friday\, November 21\, 2025\, for an opportunity to connect and share the wonder of the night sky. \nJoin us for some or all of the following: \nCampus Tours and Classroom Visits | 4:00-5:15 p.m. (Alumni Only) \nRevisit the spaces that sparked your curiosity as a student and connect with Talcott staff and fellow alumni. \nSkygazing | 5:15-6:00 p.m. \nExperience the beauty of the night sky guided by our expert astronomers. Together\, with current Academy families\, we’ll view planets\, galaxies\, and nebula through powerful telescopes and inside of the 44-foot dome of our planetarium. \nTMSCA Community Dinner | 6:00 p.m. \nStay for dinner and conversation with alumni\, families\, and staff. It’s a chance to share stories\, make new connections\, and celebrate the curiosity that continues to unite our community. \nWe hope you’ll join us for this meaningful evening at Talcott Mountain under the stars.
